North Quabbin Woods is a non-profit organization founded to help revitalize the North Quabbin region. As a project of the New England Forestry Foundation, we seek to enhance our community with initiatives which complement our best resource – the many acres of conserved woods. We promote outdoor recreation, local artisans and woodworkers, local lumber and building materials, and sustainable forestry. Our visitor information center and artisan gift store is conveniently located at 1 E. Main Street in downtown Orange. Search for recreation, lodging, and artisan information on our website.

At the head of the New Salem town common stands a classic New England wooden church. The Congregational meetinghouse, built in 1794, with its simple and elegant proportions and its tall steeple seeking the heavens, recalls the early days of the republic. Long abandoned, the building has been lovingly restored, and has had, for more than 10 years, a new life as a performance center. Its truly extraordinary acoustics and beautifully spared interior make it an ideal and intimate place to listen to music or enjoy theater.
