Partnership |

The Partnership
is coordinated by the NQ Chamber of Commerce and is committed to developing
materials to support a successful marketing strategy for the region as a
destination for tourists. The main focus is on using the environmental
assets of the region as a starting point to attract people from within as
well as tourists to attend local cultural events and buy products from local
craftsmen. Attracting visitors to enjoy the unique qualities of the region
can be an important economic engine to support the local economy.

North Quabbin CAN Task Force
(Comprehensive Access
Network) |
|
The North Quabbin
CAN group is a network dedicated to improving access to a comprehensive
range of health services and to the integration across systems. Members will
discuss and address systemic barriers to access to a full range of health
needs including physical, mental and behavioral health issues, with a
particular focus on mental health and substance abuse issues. The Network
will work to alleviate barriers to access, develop and implement prevention
strategies, and provide support to families and/or individuals in accessing
services across systems.

Dental Access Task Force

|
|
The Dental Task
Force continues to focus on community education, awareness and access. Major
focus of the task force is on community education and awareness and on
planning for the Annual ‘Healthy Smiles’ Dental Fair. The group is part of
the Watch Your Mouth campaign supported in Mass. by Health Care for All.
This Task Force generally meets on the 2nd Wed. of the month (except July &
August).

Recently the
Massachusetts Dental Society Foundation's Mobile Access to Care (MAC) Van
visited three Athol area schools, Pleasant Street, Sanders Street and
Riverbend, to provide free dental care and referrals to approximately 100
elementary school students. The project was hosted by the NQCC's Dental Task
Force and the Athol-Royalston Regional School District. |

C.A.R.E.
Task Force
(Comprehensive Assault Reduction
Effort)
|
|
This violence
prevention Task Force is focused on raising community awareness and
coordinating efforts to address the serious problem of violent behavior
within our region. The Task Force works to identify and engage all sectors
of the community in order to impact a broad social change resulting in the
decrease in the level of assaults in the North Quabbin region. The group’s
focus is on 3 specific areas of violence: Child Sexual Abuse Prevention as a
pilot site for the Mass. Citizens for Children, with 15 local trainers
available to do trainings for professional and parent groups (please call
the Coalition office to schedule a training), Youth Violence and Domestic
Violence.
This Task
Force generally meets the 1st Mon. of the month
(except July & August).

Economic Development Task Force

|
|
Primary focus is
on coordination of regional economic development efforts. The group
encourages broad community involvement and is committed to using the local
natural resources to develop the future economy of the region. One project
is working on the coordination of marketing materials used to recruit new
business enterprise to the area. A survey of all existing materials has been
completed and the group is exploring options for a web-based link to
existing sites where materials can be more readily available to potential
business developers.

Youth Policy Board/Teen
Pregnancy Prevention Task Force |
|
|
|
The Youth
Policy Board continues to focus on youth violence prevention in the
North Quabbin region, and provide a unique forum for youth service
professionals to network and expand linkages. Recently, the YPB merged
with the Teen Pregnancy Prevention Board in order to facilitate and
support greater collaboration among youth programs and services.
Leadership will assist the board to implement identified Project
Indicators, and provide expanded board training.
