The North Quabbin Community Coalition (NQCC) holds an informative forum on the third Friday of each month, September through June, at the Athol-Orange Elks Club, 92 New Athol Road, Orange, from 9:00 to 10:30 am. Various topics concerning the North Quabbin area are presented by assorted organizations, businesses and individuals. Everyone is welcome to attend.

Franklin Regional Transit Authority (FRTA)

FRTA provides public transportation services for 40 towns (Franklin, North Worcester [including the North Quabbin] and Western Hampshire and Hampden Counties). Fixed Route, Demand Response, Veterans, ADA and other contracted services are available to qualified individuals.

MAX Massachusetts Area Express Bus

The MAX bus provides high quality scheduled twice daily regional motor coach service between Worcester, Fitchburg, Gardner, Athol, Orange, New Salem, Amherst and Northampton, and intermediate communities. This new motor coach fleet has all leather reclining seats, WiFi, power outlets, enhanced legroom, seatbelts, luggage and bike space and lavatory – and even a cup holder! This service and fleet is fully ADA accessible and wheelchair lift equipped. There are two roundtrips along the route, operating every day of the year. Fares range from $4 to $12 each way, with a 25% discount for seniors and persons with disabilities. Broader ticketing options with Peter Pan, Greyhound and Amtrak will be launched in early 2016. A new smartphone application has also launched allowing greater ease of travel and enhancing payment options for regular customers. This service was designed, funded and contracted by MassDOT Rail & Transit Division and its BusPlus+ intercity bus program. Restoring and reconnecting regional and intercity bus links between key cities and rural communities across the Commonwealth has been an important transportation initiative that better supports economic and social vitality for rural and underserved areas outside of Boston. The service does not utilize local RTA transit nor local municipal funds.

TrueNorth Transit Group LLC (TNTG) is a rural transportation social justice collaborative working with community service agencies, local Regional Transit Authorities, other bus carriers, Amtrak, MBTA, MassDOT and other non - profits focused on investing in western Massachusetts. The MAX vision is to reconnect rural and underserved areas with key urban areas to reduce economic isolation, support the emerging knowledge economy, improve access to key service centers and reconnect western Massachusetts to the national rail and bus systems. TNTG is based in Shelburne Falls, MA, and the direct operation of service is provided by Fox Bus Lines, Inc. of Millbury MA.
